Appointments needed to begin treatment:

1st appointment:  X-rays, digital scans, and photos - Approximately one hour.  Sometimes spacers are placed at this appointment.

2nd appointment:  Consultation appointment and placement of the orthodontic appliances.  Will take approximately two hours (one hour for clear aligners).

After placement the appliances will be adjusted approximately every 4-6 weeks, with extra appointments needed periodically to repair broken brackets or add more brackets.  These appointments normally last 30-45 minutes.

After the braces are removed retainers will be placed to maintain the result achieved.

It is necessary that you have had a recent dental checkup before getting braces.

Dr. Martin is one of eight board certified orthodontists in the Baton Rouge area.  You can be assured that he will personally perform the following procedures in this office:

Place the braces on your teeth
Bend and install all wires for the braces
Remove the braces at the end of treatment

In order to provide you the best care possible these procedures will not be performed by orthodontic assistants.
