1st appointment: X-rays, digital scans, and photos - Approximately one hour. Sometimes spacers are placed at this appointment. 2nd appointment: Consultation appointment and placement of the orthodontic appliances. Will take approximately two hours (one hour for clear aligners). After placement the appliances will be adjusted approximately every 4-6 weeks, with extra appointments needed periodically to repair broken brackets or add more brackets. These appointments normally last 30-45 minutes. After the braces are removed retainers will be placed to maintain the result achieved. It is necessary that you have had a recent dental checkup before getting braces. Dr. Martin is one of eight board certified orthodontists in the Baton Rouge area.
