Appointments needed for placement of braces:

1st appointment:  X-rays, impressions, and spacers - Approximately one hour.  After this appointment no gum or other sticky foods should be eaten.

2nd appointment:  Consultation appointment and placement of the orthodontic appliances.  Needs to be 1-2 weeks after placement of spacers.  Will take approximately two hours.

After placement the braces will be adjusted approximately every 4-6 weeks, with extra appointments needed periodically to repair broken brackets or add more brackets.  These appointments normally last 30-45 minutes.

After the braces are removed retainers will be placed to maintain the result achieved.

It is necessary that you have had a recent dental checkup before getting braces.
